My first Blog!

Hello!
I studied communications at Dawson College for 2 years before coming to Ryerson. Our focus was mainly films but we also touched upon the subject of digital media quite often because it is now taking over the film and television industry. My understanding of Digital Media is that it is anything that uses numbers (0 and 1) and is mainly created on computers. There are many forms of digital media like cell phones, digital cameras etc...

There are many reasons why an RTA student should learn Digital Media.
Digital media has helped the television and film industry evolve tremendously. For example, editing is now mostly done on computers instead of film being cut up and taped together. It has become digitalized making post production more creative, (the tools that editing programs have make for very creative work) less time consuming and we all know that time = money!
Also video cameras are now primarily digital. First advantage that comes to mind when filming with a digital camera are the expenses which are decreased enormously.

All in all learning about Digital Media will give us a greater understanding of the field we are about to explore.
